Healthy Turkey Chili Recipe

A delicious and hearty turkey chili recipe that is stick to your bones good and is a perfect meal prep meal during the cold weather seasons.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 15oz can Dark Red Kidney Beans drained and rinsed
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 1 jalapeno seeded and minced
  • 1/2 yellow onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic mined
  • 1 28 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese cubed
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 packet McCormick Mild Chili Seasoning Mix
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel and deseed all produce where necessary.
  • Finely chop all fresh vegetables and set aside into separate little piles.

Stove Top Instructions

  • In a large pot, add 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. and add the onion and celery and stir to sweat them out and cook until fragrant. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
  • Then, add the peppers and cook -3 minutes followed by the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add tomato sauce, beans and the packet of chili seasoning to the pot and turn heat to low, mix well and cover. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • In a separate pan, add a drizzle of oil and the ground turkey on medium high heat and cook until browned. Allow to slightly sear and break into small pieces as it cooks.
  • Once the turkey is browned, add it to the pot of sauce and mix thoroughly. Simmer on low for 3-4 hours, mixing from time to time so the bottom doesn't burn.
  • Before removing from heat to serve add the cheddar cheese and let it melt and mix it in until combined.
  • In your serving bowls, add one tablespoon of cream cheese and top with the chili and mix well.
  • Serve with toasted Italian bread.
